CAN I TRY SOMETHING?

CAN I TRY SOMETHING? is a residency between Pan Pan and one of America’s leading performance companies, Big Dance Theater, where the companies will be fully immersed in each other’s practices and have a unique opportunity to collaborate with similar minded artists from across the ocean.

CAN I TRY SOMETHING? will take place in Summer 2025 in New York.

Collaborators: Salma Ataya, Emma Coen, Elizabeth DeMent, Faith Jones, Paul Lazar, Gavin Quinn, Sara Pereira da Silva and Pete Simpson

This residency is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland's International Residency Initiatives Scheme, Coffey Street Studio, Mercury Space, The Howard Gilman Foundation, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

After their second week of sharing and collaboration, the artistic directors of both companies, along with performers Salma Ataya, Faith Jones, Elizabeth Dement, and Pete Simpson, will sit down for an informal discussion of the work and an exploration of what process is and might be. Moderating will be Isaac Butler, director, raconteur, and author of The Method: How America Learned to Act.
